Ivywild neighborhood is undergoing a complete revitalization. But first, a little bit of history on our neighborhood.
Established in 1888 and at the cusp of the Broadmoor, Ivywild was once a small suburb of Colorado Springs with a history as rich and colorful as any city in Colorado. It is one of the city’s oldest working-class neighborhoods.
In 1902, Winfield Scott Stratton and Thomas Burns purchased 10 acres along Cheyenne Blvd. This land would become a baseball park (now Tejon Street and Cheyenne Blvd). The Colorado Springs Millionaires baseball team played at the park, which sat 3,500 people. There was also an amusement park, Colorado Springs Park and Zoo. The houses that were built in Ivywild were from wood salvaged from Nikola Tesla’s laboratory.
The revitalization began when the elementary school was made into a multi-use commercial and community center called Ivywild School (built in 1916 vacated in 2009 and reopened in 2013). The remodeled 20,000 square feet has a delicatessen, brewery, pub, bakery, coffee shop, whiskey bar, gift shop, and architectural office. This was partially funded by the city under an urban renewal project.
Fast forward to today. Ivywild has become the most desirable neighborhood in the Springs for urbanite living. With the newly renovated creek and Creekwalk shopping center, you will find walking and bike paths to take you to Prime 25, Sprouts, Ivywild Marriott Tribute Boutique Hotel, Natural Grocers, Orange Theory, Fuzzy Tacos, roof top restaurants to name a few.
Ivywild Townhomes are in the center of this revitalization. Twenty four luxury, turn-key maintenance free townhomes are being built along the creek for urbanites, investors, retirees and the up and comers.
If you want to own a part of this history and exciting revitalization, I can help you.
